Stylist - Privacy Policy
Stylist catalogs the clothes you photograph and puts together outfits from them. If you add a full body photo of yourself, it can also generate try-on images showing you in those outfits. The app therefore handles photos of your clothing and photos of you, so this policy is specific about what is stored, where it goes, and how to remove it.
Account Information
Stylist signs you in with Apple, and stores the name, email address and account identifier that Apple provides. If you use "Hide My Email", Apple supplies a relay address instead of your real one and the app works exactly the same. Stylist never sees your Apple password.
You can optionally set a home city, which is used to fetch weather for outfit suggestions. It is a city you type and pick from a list. Stylist does not request or use your device location.
Photos and Wardrobe Data
Photos of your items, and the optional full body photo used for try-ons, are stored in Cloudflare R2. They are resized on your device before upload, and are only served through links that expire after an hour. Removing an item's background, and cropping your face for your profile picture, both run on your device using Apple's Vision framework, so neither step sends anything to a server.
Alongside the photos, Stylist stores what it works out from them: each item's category, colors, material, fit, formality, warmth and similar attributes, plus the outfits, day plans and notes you save. This data lives in Convex, which hosts the database and the backend.
AI Processing
Stylist uses OpenAI for the parts of the app that need a model:
- Photos of your items are sent to OpenAI to identify and catalog them.
- Your full body photo is sent to OpenAI to check that it is usefully framed, and screened by OpenAI's moderation service for explicit content.
- Try-on images are generated from your full body photo together with your item photos. Your face and body are sent to OpenAI for this step.
- Outfit suggestions and the weekly planner use only the text attributes of your items, never your photos.
OpenAI's privacy policy is here. Under OpenAI's API data usage policy, content submitted through their API is not used to train their models.
Cataloging items and generating try-ons run as background jobs on Trigger.dev, which receives temporary links to the relevant photos in order to process them. Their privacy policy is here.
Analytics and Session Replay
Stylist uses PostHog for product analytics and session replay. PostHog receives your account identifier and email address, the screens you open, and events such as opening the paywall or finishing onboarding.
Session replay records what appears on your screen as you use the app. Text you type into inputs is masked, but images are not, so a recording can include your item photos and your try-on images. PostHog also receives thumbnails of the photos sent to the AI and of the try-on image it returns, attached to the record of each AI request. PostHog's privacy policy is here.
Crash Reporting
Sentry collects crash and error reports so problems can be fixed. It is configured to attach additional context to those reports, including your IP address, and it records a replay of a sample of sessions as well as of sessions where an error occurs. Sentry's privacy policy is here.
Purchases and Subscriptions
In-app purchases and subscriptions are handled by RevenueCat. Your Stylist account identifier is used as your RevenueCat user ID, and RevenueCat receives purchase history in order to validate receipts and manage your subscription. Payment is processed by Apple, and Stylist never sees your card details. RevenueCat's privacy policy is here.
Other Services
Weather for outfit suggestions comes from Open-Meteo. Some of those requests are made from your device, which means your IP address and the coordinates of your chosen city reach Open-Meteo. City search uses Apple's MapKit, so what you type is sent to Apple. App updates are delivered through Expo. If you allow notifications, Stylist stores a push token for your device.
Permissions
Stylist asks for camera and photo library access so you can add items and your model photo, permission to save images back to your photo library when you export them, and permission to send notifications. Each one is optional, and is only requested the first time you use the feature that needs it.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your data is kept for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account from the settings screen. Deletion is deferred for 10 days, and signing back in during that window cancels it. After that, every photo and every record tied to your account is permanently removed from the database and from storage.
Deleting your account does not automatically remove copies held by the services listed above, such as analytics events, crash reports or subscription records. To have those removed too, or to request a copy of your data, email support@getstylist.app.
International Transfers
The services described above store and process data outside your country, including in the United States.
Advertising
Stylist shows no ads and contains no advertising or attribution SDKs. It does not track you across other apps or websites, which is why no App Tracking Transparency prompt is shown. Your data is not sold, and is not shared with third parties for advertising purposes.
Children
Stylist is not directed at children under 13, and they should not use it. If you believe a child has created an account, email support@getstylist.app and it will be removed.
